The pride of Brazil, UFC Middleweight Champion Anderson Silva, made a surprise visit to a sick child at Dr. Eduardo Picanco’s office. According to the doctor, the 12 year old boy is suffering from a bone condition called Legg-Calve-Perthes syndrome. The ailment required two leg and hip surgeries, and has left the patient confined to a wheelchair for nine months.

The doctor arranged the visit after learning that Silva was one of the boy’s idols. After their emotional hug, Anderson has some words of comfort for the young man.

Let me tell you something, you’ll need to do something very important for everyone. You’ll have to work hard so you can get better very soon. [Antonio] ‘Minotauro’ [Nogueira] had the same problem, and he’s fighting again. Got it? So you have to work hard.

I talked to the doctor, and he’ll talk to Minotauro’s doctor to see if she can help you too. That way you’ll get back to training as soon as possible. Okay? Cool?

..Let’s get better fast so we can train. It’s a date. We’ll train when you get better.”

Dana White recently promoted a clip of the video on Twitter and supported Anderson Silva in his charitable effort.

Anderson Silva is such a huge star in Brazil, it is refreshing to see him take the time to give back to his fans. That boy has a lot to look forward to now, and a reason to get better; a date to train with the greatest UFC fighter of all time. Be sure to watch Silva in his next title defense against Chris Weidman at UFC 162 July 6 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.
